How Revenue Share Billing Works
Insert Affiliate offers two ways to pay for the platform: a fixed monthly price, or a Revenue Share plan with a lower monthly base fee plus a percentage of the revenue your affiliates generate. This page explains exactly how that percentage is calculated so there are no surprises on your invoice.

What you pay
Each Revenue Share plan has two parts:
- a monthly base fee, a fixed amount charged each month
- a revenue share rate, a percentage of the revenue your affiliates generate
The base fee and rate are different for each plan: higher tiers have a higher base fee and a lower percentage. Enterprise Plus plans have a negotiated rate. The current base fees and percentages are always shown on the pricing page and on your Billing page; this guide only explains how the percentage is applied. Revenue Share plans are billed monthly; annual billing is only available on fixed price plans.
What counts as affiliate-tracked revenue
The revenue share is applied to every purchase that Insert Affiliate attributes to one of your affiliates. That means:
- Initial purchases and renewals. A subscription that an affiliate referred keeps counting for as long as it renews, because that revenue continues to come from the affiliate's referral. This applies even if you have set a renewal attribution window or renewal cap for the affiliate's own commission. Those settings limit what you pay the affiliate, not what was attributed.
- All purchase sources. App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, Adapty, Apphud, Iaptic and Stripe web transactions are treated the same way.
- Production transactions only. Sandbox and test purchases are never billed.
Purchases with no affiliate attached, organic revenue, and anything outside Insert Affiliate's tracking are not included.
Gross amount, before store fees
The percentage is applied to the gross transaction price: the amount the customer paid, before Apple, Google or Stripe take their cut.
This is true regardless of the platform fee deduction setting. That setting only changes the base your affiliates' commission is calculated on. The revenue share is always on gross.
Currency
Your base fee and revenue share are billed in the currency of your subscription. Attributed purchases in other currencies are converted into your billing currency at the exchange rate in effect when the purchase is recorded, and the percentage is applied to the converted amount.
When it is billed
The revenue share accrues as each attributed purchase is recorded and is added to your regular monthly invoice as a usage line alongside the base fee. Nothing is charged separately or in advance. You can see the amount accrued so far in the current period at any time under Revenue Share Billing on the Billing page, with a per-transaction breakdown.
If you switch plans part way through a period, the revenue share accrued up to that point is settled on the invoice for the switch.
Worked example
The figures below are illustrative only. Your actual base fee and rate depend on your plan.
Say your plan is £X per month + Y%, and in one month your affiliates drive:

Apple's and Google's commission on those purchases does not reduce the figure, and the commission you pay your affiliates is separate and paid by you directly to them.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum or a cap? No. You pay the base fee plus the percentage of whatever your affiliates actually generate. If they generate nothing in a month, you pay only the base fee.
Do daisy chain or auto-chunk payments to affiliates count? No. The revenue share is based on customer purchases, not on what you pay your affiliates. Paying commission to two affiliates for one purchase does not bill it twice.
Can I see how a figure was calculated? Yes. The Revenue Share Breakdown on the Billing page lists every attributed transaction in the period with its gross amount, the rate applied and the resulting charge.
Can I switch between fixed price and Revenue Share? Yes, from the Billing page. Any revenue share accrued up to the switch is invoiced at that point.
